Adaptive Phones
Do you find it difficult to use your phone with ease like you used to, simply because of vision, mobility, or hearing difficulties? There is no need to feel ashamed, there are many people out there just like you; and chances are that Heartland Independent Living Center can help! We have phones with enlarged buttons
for those who have trouble seeing the numbers, and also phones that are extra loud for the hearing impaired. Also available to people who are extremely hearing impaired, or possibly deaf, are the Captioned Telephones. The CapTelephone works just like any other telephone except for one imperative addition: it displays each word the other party on the line says throughout the conversation. CapTelephone users have the option of listening to the caller, and also reading the written captions displayed in the CapTelephone window.
There are three qualifications for the adaptive telephone program. To be eligible, a person must:
- Reside in Missouri
- Have telephone service in their home
- Have an income of $60,000 or less per year
If you meet all three of these requirements, you qualify for a FREE adaptive telephone!
For more information about Adaptive Telephones & Hearing Impaired Phones, please call our Owensville office at 573-437-5100.
